Master Promissory Notes
A Master Promissory Note (MPN) is a promissory note under which the borrower may receive loans for either a single period or multiple periods of enrollment. If applied to a school that is eligible to use the serial loan feature, most borrowers sign the MPN once to receive the maximum eligibility under the subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford Loan Programs. If applied to a school that is not eligible for the serial loan feature, the borrower must sign a MPN for each new loan.
